This is why I put mouths on parrots
June 28, 2008
These are examples of “Alex” the cognitive African Grey parrot and his scientist friend Irene Pepperberg, the inspriation for my installation All the Birds Sing Words. The name Alex is an acronym for Avian Learning EXperiment. Why wouldn’t we want to know what’s on a critter’s mind? Why wouldn’t I put big red lips on birds?
p.s. he’s ok, he’s molting!
